Apparition free movie 2016. I've been needing a scary movie like this! This is all in all a great movie. I felt like the whole movie I couldn't take my eyes away. I recommend this highly. Its now one of the oscar nominees. Every hero/heroine seems so strong until Kal is in the room. I'm sorry that's it's taken me so long to post the next part of our chronicle of Chimera. The last few hours of our night there have been some of the hardest of my life, and there's so much that happened in such a short time. Maria's already told you what her last few hours were like, and you've already learned everything we can remember about Maria's first nightmare and my first experience. But to try and explain everything about our escape, it might take me two more posts to reveal the truth. So to put this simply, I'm not special in any way. Like all men that have come before me, and all men that will come after, I have many regrets in life. I haven't been the best husband that I should have been. I haven't been the kindest son or the most loving of brothers. But there are two regrets, two fears, that I can never forget. And there at Chimera, they were hunting me. The first regret is the one that I've already told you about, Sierra. The way our love unfolded, and the way it ended, has left scars that show even now. But there is a second trauma that I've buried in the depths of my memories, and somehow, Chimera had unearthed it. I knew from the moment the Jamaican host stumbled back, my knife still protruding from his chest, that something very bad was about to happen. And when I backed away in shock as his body dissolved into the wall behind him, I heard it. A lone, fearsome howl from the depths of the island. The howl cut through my soul like a knife through butter. I know that Maria has already told you about my fear of dogs, but she didn't go into much detail. In fact, Maria herself didn't even know the reason behind it until we went out Chimera. It goes back all the way to my childhood, and like Maria, I had a brother. More than that, I had a twin, actually. His name was Jamie, and when we were little, he was my best friend in the whole world. We would play outside in our yard for hours, playing soldiers and warriors. In fact, for some unknown reason, our favorite stories to play out stemmed from Greek mythology. I don't know if it was because we saw that old Jason and the Argonauts movie on TV once or what, but he and I loved to act out our adventures as Greek heroes fighting against mythological monsters. Now, this was long before the Percy Jackson's and the Clash of the Titans' and so we would spend hours in the library looking up stories and myths to fuel our imagination. The adventures in our back yard often involved us sailing on long journeys to fight evil harpies or crossing scalding deserts to rescue beautiful women from the dens of wicked Cyclopies. Hell, we would have given Rick Riordan a run for his money. But there was one creature that was always our biggest enemy in our imaginative battles, and that was the hellhound. Or, more specifically, the monster Cerberus. To Jamie and I, that was the most terrifying monster we had ever heard of. So naturally, it was the one we would always fight with our stick "swords" and cardboard "shields. Cerberus terrified me more than him, and in our imaginary battles, he'd often be the one to save me. On our tenth birthday, an accident rocked our family. Our parents took us on a trip to our local zoo, and we were so excited we could hardly wait. When we got there, we saw a sign that the zoo had just opened a brand new wolf enclosure. Naturally, Jamie and I thought of all the legends and myths about wolf-like creatures we had heard, and we begged our parents to see it first. We stood in line for almost an hour, but what happened once we reached the enclosure is something I'll never forget. I had been distracted by a cart selling candy, and Jamie reached the enclosure first. He had looked down at the beautiful, magnificent creatures and I could hear his excited remarks to my father. Then the next thing I knew I heard a sharp cracking sound followed by screams, and when I turned to look, I saw Jamie was gone and half of the enclosure's railing with it. When I rushed forward with my parents, the sight that greeted me was the fuel of nightmares. The zoo later put out a statement saying that there was a miscommunication in the feeding schedules, and the wolves hadn't gotten food in almost two days. They also said that there was some fault in the construction company's assembly of the enclosure, causing the railing to get weaker with every person that leaned up to it. They said it was just bad luck that Jamie was the one it broke on. "Bad luck. That was what killed my brother. Just a really fucking bad day, a one in a million chance. But when I was younger, I couldn't come to terms with that. I couldn't accept that his death was meaningless. So, I imagined that it was a hellhound from the stories that killed him. It wasn't an accident, I told myself, he got attacked and fought the creature to save us. It was bullshit, but I was young and it helped me come to terms with what happened. It helped me accept that he was actually gone, and once I did, I could work on accepting what really happened. But even when I abandoned the childish conception of his death, that fear of the hounds and wolves of mythology stayed. Maybe because they reminded me more about Jamie than anything else. But when I heard that piercing howl echo through the lobby, I knew in an instant that it wasn't just my irrational fear anymore. This was something real, something Chimera had somehow ripped from my past and made real - and deadly. “Theres something hunting us. Maria gasped out from beside me, taking a step closer to grab onto my arm. I didn't want to face her, not after what I had done to our host. Especially since I knew that was after us now was because of me. “Then let's get back to the dock and get the hell out of here, ” I said, hoping the fear didn't show in my voice. I held on to her just as tightly as we turned towards the front doors, but then I froze in my tracks as I felt the all too familiar feeling of nauseating panic take hold. The front doors were gone. I don't mean barricaded or locked or anything, I mean it was gone. There was only a blank wall where the doors had been just moments ago, a wall that looked exactly the same as the rest of the room. Had the door ever been there? Were we even really in the lobby? “Fight your fears, free yourself from the regret you both are shackled to, ” whispered a voice from around us, a voice that sounded empty and sorrowful beyond measure. I wheeled around, eyes darting across the room, but I found no body to accompany the voice. “There's gotta be another way out of here, come on! ” I yelled, trying to keep my spirits from sinking into despair.  I grabbed Maria's hand and turned, running down the hall I came from with the Jamaican man, but the hall had already changed. It veered in a different direction, and as we ran, I could feel that the ground was sloping downwards. We could hear the creature howling after us, and that just spurred us on even more. What happened next is… hard to describe. Time seemed to bend as we ran, and the very nature of Chimera warped around us as we went. We constantly heard the creature pursuing us, but at times it sounded as if he was mere inches behind us, and then the next moment it sounded like he was almost at the edge of our hearing range. But strangest of all, the actual structure of the hall and the building changed around us as we twisted and turned through the corridors. In one moment things were normal, and then suddenly, the walls shifted around us and we found ourselves running through a hospital corridor. Then we were running through an abandoned warehouse, then a gated path under a starry sky, which made my head hurt just trying to figure out.  Part of me didn't care as we ran, only wanting to escape from whatever was after us. But the other, smaller voice in my head wondered if we were doing exactly what Chimera wanted us to do. And part of me wondered if the different looks and locations the resort was seemingly becoming came from the fears and dreams of other people, just like us. Maybe there were others trapped like us during our night. Or, maybe these apparitions were just the shattered fragments of what used to be. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of running, the hallway widened into a large room, and as we took another few steps forward, the wall and floor morphed into the den of a cave. There was a dim light coming from above us, but I couldn't make out the ceiling. The walls just stretched up and up and up. Finally realizing we couldn't hear the creature anymore, I doubled over to catch my breath. “This has to be a dream, Stan. It must be. Everything is so intangible… they must have drugged us, or something. Maria muttered from beside me. I glanced over, and for the first time realized how haggard and weary she looked. It was like she'd been through hell tonight which, when I thought about it, we had. “I dont understand what kind of twisted magic governs this place, and Im not sure that I want to. I admitted as I leaned up against the side of the cave's wall. “But I know that it feels real to me, and if it feels real, then whatever's chasing us will probably feel real too. We should keep moving. ”  Maria nodded numbly, and after another minute of rest, we started off again. The den widened even more as we walked, giving way to a huge cavern. I heard the running water before I saw it, and despite everything we'd been through, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of it. Dozens of little streams and rivers met in the center of the cavern, flowing down into a little fountain. Then I did a double take and realized that, somehow, the water was flowing back up. I heard Maria gasp from beside me, and I turned to see her staring at something above the fountain. I still couldn't see the ceiling it was so high up, but her eyes were fixed on a spot of nothingness about ten feet up from the floor. I saw her eyes go wide and her mouth open slightly and shock, and although I didn't know what she was seeing, I knew I had to be there for her. I wasn't going to leave her to face things alone anymore. I reached over and grabbed her hand tightly, and she took a few steps forward, leading us closer to the fountain. I still couldn't see what she was looking at, but whatever it was, I felt her trembling beside me. I squeezed her reassuringly.  Suddenly, I heard a voice from behind me. "Why do you still hide your scars from her, Stanley. I knew that voice. I turned around, swallowing a lump in my throat as I prepared myself for what I knew I'd see. Sure enough, my brother stood in front of me. He was exactly the same as I saw him last, ten years old with his shaggy hair and toothy grin. I realized with a shock that my surroundings had changed. Maria was still next to me and I still felt her hand, but she wasn't moving. The cave, the fountain, everything had disappeared. We were standing in a black void, no walls, no roof, no ceiling. Just darkness, and my dead brother in front of me. "Stanley. he repeated, tilting his head to one side. "Why are you doing this to us. I bit out, unable to quench my anger anymore. I had to remind myself that this wasn't the real Jamie. "Why are you making us go through this? What are you trying to accomplish by putting through this hell. His expression darkened, and he said, You've done this yourself, Stan. You and Maria, you've built these prisons already. We're only showing you the monsters you've made and have been hiding from all your life. It's your choice what you want to do with that knowledge. So I'll ask you again, Stanley. Why do you still keep your scars hidden from her. You don't understand. You couldn't, and neither could she. If she knew what I've hidden, she'd never look at me the same. She. WHY ARE YOU HIDING YOUR SCARS, STANLEY. Jamie bellowed in a voice that was deeper and darker than it should have been. Then, before my very eyes, I saw him get ripped to pieces. Cuts and slashes erupted on his chest, his face, his arms, his neck, spraying blood out onto me. His face turned into an expression of horror, and I saw the look of terror in his eyes before invisible claws raked across his face and gauged the eyes out of his sockets. I felt tears come to my eyes and my stomach turned over, and I knew this was how he had died. I couldn't watch, and I instinctively took a step back. In the process, I accidentally let go of Maria's hand. That was my first mistake. The moment my fingers let go of hers, I was falling back into a nothingness so dark and empty, I could feel my heart slow. I screamed, but no sound came out. There was nothing. There was Darkness, rushing up at me, and there was nothing for me to grab onto and no way for me to escape. A fleeting thought struck me, that this was the heart of Chimera. The dark, twisted, beating heart of an island of nightmares. I knew I was about to die, and without thinking about it, I called out, Maria, I'm sorry- Instantly, my fall stopped. I slammed onto solid ground and rolled to the right, gasping for breath and in pain. With as long as I had fallen, my back should have been broken by all accounts. I wasn't complaining though. I could live with a few more aches and bruises, and I whispered a silent prayer of thanks. After everything that happened in the night, my atheism was a little bit shaken. To survive this far, we had to have gotten help from someone bigger than us. I wasn't sure if I wanted to open my eyes, but I knew I had to. I couldn't see much because wherever I was, there was barely any light, but I could definitely feel solid ground beneath me. Still, it was practically a comfort compared to the deep, utter blackness of the void. Here, it was just dark. There, it had been like Chimera's heart was draining every spark of light from my surroundings and my soul. After a moment of sitting in the darkness, I remembered I still had my phone on me. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my smartphone, and amazingly, the screen wasn't cracked. When I thumbed the power switch the screen lit up to life, almost blinding me with my white phone background and the brightness turned up to max.  I quickly shut my eyes and turned it away, holding it screen-outward as a makeshift flashlight. Then, wincing with the movement, I pulled myself to my feet. The facade of the cave and resort both had completely melted away. I found myself in a large, open room with blank walls and a low ceiling. There were no lights, and the floor was the same indiscernible material as the walls. I didn't see any sign of Maria, but at the same time, I didn't hear the creature that had been chasing us.  "Maria. I called out cautiously, and I heard my voice echo down the length of the room. It was so long, my makeshift light didn't even reach the far wall. I waited there, back aching, but no response came back to me. So with no other option, I drew myself up and walked forward. I found out that what I thought was a long room turned out to be more like an infinite hallway. It stretched on and on, with no doorways or side passages in sight. There was no change in the walls, the floor, nothing. I had the strange sense that for once, Chimera wasn't showing me something that it wanted me to see. It felt like I was an unwelcome observer walking through back rooms, as if I was supposed to die in that fall and that island didn't know what to do with me. After only a few minutes of walking, the walls on either side of me fell away into a giant cavern. Technically it was still a room, but it was so vast and the walls so far apart, it felt more like an underground amphitheatre than anything. But this place, it was different than the cave I had just come from with Maria. In that place, there had been some kind of a feeling there, a shimmer to everything that made it feel larger than life. Here, with my phone screen the only light visible, there was a dull grittiness that made me understand that this was what the island and its buildings were really like. But as I walked forward, trying to hug the far right wall, I saw something worse than everything I had seen on the island. Every few feet along the wall, I found a person sitting down. Man, woman, young, old, there was no difference. All were lethally thin, with bones showing through paper thin skin that hung like rags over the limbs, but their eyes were open. Bloodshot eyes stared blankly as I passed them, and I caught glimpses of something attached to their heads. I tried not to look or think about what I saw, I just kept my head down and tried to keep my tears of horror from escaping. Halfway across the cavern, I froze in my tracks. Despite myself, I had kept stealing glances at the half dead faces that watched me pass, somehow unable to look away, and I had just seen a face that I recognized. "Ren. I bent down, staring at the starved shell of the man that had been my best friend for years, the man who had brought Maria and I to this hellhole of an island. He was barely recognizable, his skin was pale and splotchy, and his dark brown hair had mostly fallen out. What remained was little more than a few strands, plastered to the side of his sweat covered face. "My God, Ren, what happened to you. His eyes opened a little bit, and I recoiled from the sight. His pupils were dilated and the whites of the eyes were so bloodshot, they were more red than white. The only emotion I saw in those hollow eyes was agony and pure fucking terror. "Stan? How. he tried to say, but his voice was barely a whisper. His lips were cracked and bleeding, and I was surprised he was able to speak at all. "You brought us here, Ren. You told us to come. Why the hell did you send us. It took him a minute to process that. His eyes widened a bit, and I saw a spark of confusion in them before they once again narrowed. Ren tried to moisten his lips a little before he tried to speak again, but it did little good. "I… I never got out, Stan. I've been here for… Christ knows how long. Those words hit me like a cold fist to the face, and I actually took a step back in shock. How could that be, I thought. I had talked to him only a few weeks ago, and he had told me that he and Nora had visited Chimera almost two years ago. How could that be? Look… behind us. Ren gasped out, and he tried to raise a hand to me, but the exertion was too much. His eyes closed and his body sagged, and I knew what had happened. I just didn't have the heart to confirm my fear by checking for his pulse. Then, for the first time, I raised my light to shine on the wall behind him. Almost instantly I reeled back, feeling panic and disgust starting to choke me out again. I now knew why the bodies were sitting against the wall, and why they didn't fall over. What I had first thought was a cavern wall was something much worse. It was more like some kind of membrane, thin and moist, and a tube extended out from it. The entire back half of Ren's skull was just… gone. The bone and skin had been ripped apart to expose the brain, and the black, veiny tube from the wall had attached itself onto it. As I stared on in horror, I saw the tube pulsing and twitching as it… fed. As it fed from Ren.  Behind the wall, lying just beneath the surface of the thin membranous covering, was the worst of all. There was a figure there, suspended and held up by fleshy chords attached to his skin. It was hard to see through the wall's membrane, but it looked as if the tube attached to Ren directly fed into the figure. His face was oddly shaped, with features that weren't quite fully formed yet. It looked like a clay figure that someone had shaped into the form of a person, but hadn't quite completed yet. "I never got out, Stan. With a sudden shock of realization, I understood exactly what was going on here. I knew what happened to the people who didn't survive Chimera's twisted nights. They got taken down here, where the island could feed off of them, where it could eat its fill of dreams and fears and thoughts. These people were dying because the island was draining them of their souls, their essence, their minds. But it wasn't enough for Chimera to feed and thrive on the souls who wandered in. No, it had to keep repeating its twisted cyle. It had to keep getting more victims, more prospects, who could go through its trials. And it would lure them there itself. The Ren I had spoken to, the Ren who had told me about this place, wasn't my friend. I realized with a pang of guilt and remorse that he was one of the doppelgangers the island had created, no different than the versions of Sierra and Maria that I had seen earlier in the night. Somehow, Chimera used its power to make replicas of people. And those who didn't survive the night were copied and sent out into the world to lure new prospects in, so that the nightmare of the island would never end. Chimera had been among us, weighing us, readying us for this night. And I hadn't even suspected that there was anything wrong with my best friend. That was when Ren's eyes shot open. I stumbled back, gasping in shock as he stared at me with wide, lifeless eyes. The pupils were gone and there was just a white void, empty of emotion, staring up at me from behind half closed eyelids. He tilted his head slightly to one side, and when his mouth opened, a voice came out that wasn't his own. It was Jamie's.  "You shouldn't be in here, Stan. You're going to miss the big finale we've planned for you. I stepped back rapidly, but I was too late. The ground was shaking now, and even as I turned to run, I knew I couldn't outrun this. The ground was falling apart around me, the cavern dissolving into pieces as I tried in vain to sprint back the way I came. But the quake overtook me, and before I reached the exit, the floor underneath me crumbled into dust.  As the ground around me broke away, I heard a voice echo through the chamber. It was a full, unnaturally deep voice, raspy and dry. I think it was the true voice of whatever being was responsible for Chimera. "Dawn is coming, Stanley. it said. "Will you meet it in time? Will you let go. I was falling again, but this time, it was only for an instant. In one moment I was in the cavern, then I was falling through the Darkness again, and then the next moment I hit soft earth and rolled to the side. I yelled out in pain as my already sore back slammed down on the ground, but I pushed the pain to the back of my head. I didn't have time for it now. Somehow, I had made it out of the resort buildings. As I scrambled to my feet, I found myself right in front of the double doors that Maria and I had tried so hard to reach, only now, I was on the outside looking in. And for the first time, I saw the island around me as it truly was. There were no giant buildings made of beautiful marble. There were no fountains, no winding pathways, no sandy beaches. What had looked like a beautiful, sprawling main building built with 19th century architecture turned out to be nothing more than an empty, charred husk of a mansion. Walls were half destroyed, windows were gone, and full sections of the roof had caved in. This was the real "island paradise" we had come to, and it made me realize that from the moment we arrived here, everything had been a facade. I was startled out of my gaze when the front doors suddenly burst open, and Maria tumbled out. She was out of breath and tears were streaming down her cheeks, and I was barely able to catch her before she fell onto the ground. She collapsed into me and I held her up as she cried, her body heaving with each sob. I didn't know what to do, so I just held her there, with my arms wrapped around her. I didn't realize it in the moment, but I was crying too. Finally, she pulled away and hurriedly wiped the tears from her eyes. “We need to get out of this fucking place, before our memories consume us, ” she bit out, and I couldn't have agreed more. After what I had seen, after finding out what happens if you don't escape the night, I wasn't too keen on taking our time.  But before I could say anything, I heard it. The low, quiet growl of the beast carried over to us by a soft ocean breeze. That was when I knew that we hadn't passed Chimera's final test. We had only just arrived to it. the end of the nightmare.

Light and Dark Hello, friends. After rewriting Episode 7 a few weeks back, it took a lot of thinking on Episode 8 before moving forward. Here's Episode 7, for a catch up before reading here. I don't think The Last Jedi is the worst movie ever made. I don't even think it's a terrible movie. But it's. not that great either. Many of the sequel trilogy's problems were started in TFA (lack of proper worldbuilding, Luke running off to die and not caring about anyone anymore, Leia not being a Jedi, mystery-box Rey, etc. but things were exacerbated when TLJ came out. Here, I present a rewritten Episode 8, Son of Darkness. More focused on the training of our heroine and villain, and the return of Luke Skywalker. There's a lot to cover here, so I may split this rewrite into several chunks. THE TITLE CRAWL War is coming. Following the destruction its capital, the peaceful New Republic reels as the evil FIRST ORDER deploys its agents to conquer the galaxy. Leia Organa Solo and the RESISTANCE move to halt the First Order's invasion and buy their allies time to rally for the coming conflict. On the lost planet Ahch-To, Kira Solo seeks to return her uncle Luke Skywalker to the fight and save the galaxy. While their enemy, the fallen knight Caedus, wanders lost at the edge of the galaxy. PART 2- THE MAIN PLOTS The film would follow three arcs, and a more traditional Star Wars plot. They play concurrently, and unlike TLJ the events of the story take place over about a week and a half. The three plots are Luke training Kira Solo (and actually training her for real) while Caedus/Ben Solo is pushed further into darkness by the Supreme Leader, Leia holding the Resistance together while readying for one last fight as the Jedi that Luke trained her to be, and Finn's journey to becoming a hero of the Resistance as well as a Jedi. The crux of the movie is the Solo twins being set at odds, and an ancient secret of the Force setting up a climax to the trilogy as well as the 9 film saga. Luke, the Solo twins, and the legacy of Anakin Skwalker Kira and Ben Solo/Caedus run two parallel paths, from the very start of the film. Starting off, the opening of the film shows "Caedus" suffering a full on mental breakdown as he is being escorted back to the Supreme Leader's ship right after the first film. He only calms himself when an apparition of Darth Vader appears to him, and he commits to the cause again. Supreme Leader Snoke orders him back to training, breaking his helmet himself and stripping him of his title as Knight. But Caedus disobeys him and takes part in a battle against the Resistance at their base of D'Qar, almost single-handedly turning the tide in favor of the First Order and almost wiping out Rogue Squadron. Snoke, admitting his apprentice still has potential, oversees his training personally as the film goes on, until the end of the second act. Caedus is pushed to his limits, and through his training the connection or "dyad" between him and Kira strengthens until he locates her. Talon, the superior Knight of Ren, is a hands-on and brutal instructor during this time. Kira Solo, meanwhile, is reluctantly trained by her uncle Luke after an awkward and somewhat bitter reunion. Luke turns to older, abandoned teachings of the Force that the Jedi Order did not continue, such as actively facing and confronting one's inner darkness during one's training as opposed to completely shutting it out. But Luke does not allow her to go to the Dark Side cave, for fear of Kira losing herself. Furthermore, he wishes for her to leave him when her training is complete, having faith in Leia and Kira to continue the fight but doubting himself and the future of the Jedi. The reason for this refusal is revealed when the truth of Luke's exile is revealed by the end of the film's second act, after a whole week has passed. Luke founded his new Jedi Academy with the help of several others, characters lifted from the Expanded Universe (Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Kyp Durron. Luke was not married to Mara, but there were clearly feelings between them and he gave her his father's lightsaber. When Ben left the new order and returned some time later, Luke's fellow masters were wary of him and wanted Luke to treat him with caution. But Luke, confident that he could help Ben and trusting of his nephew, ignored their warnings. Things fell apart when Luke was away, searching for the Supreme Leader, and Ben tried to offer Dark Side secrets in a twisted attempt to help them. Kyle, Kyp and Mara tried to stop him, and a fight ensued which saw Ben kill them all in a moment of blind fear and anger. Luke returned to find his friends dead, with Mara herself killed by the Skywalker saber. Finding Ben meditating alone, Luke was overcome with grief and anger just as Ben and they attacked one another, destroying the temple. Ben then fled the wreckage, leaving the other students to die in the inferno. Luke flew to Ahch-To to find the Jedi books and any other secrets there, in hopes of combating Snoke. But he found only a ruin, and to make matters worse he travelled into the Dark Side cave where the spirit of Vader tormented him with his failure, and Luke's connection to the Force was shattered. Through this tale, we learn what Caedus has truly become. A bitter, vengeful man who blames his parents for letting him fall to darkness and sees his uncle as a failure and a traitor. He believes Anakin Skywalker was weak to let his family keep him from ascending to ruling the galaxy, and is determined to avoid that fate. He sees the spirit of Anakin as Vader, just as Luke did in the cave, because it is what he wants to see. Luke was afraid of falling to his dark lineage, while his nephew embraces it. The second act sees the Knights of Ren come to the island and attack Luke and Kira. Kira is overwhelmed in a duel by Caedus and she falls into the cave, and just as his father returned to the light to save him, Luke reaches out and the Force returns to him as he fights off several Knights. In the Dark Side cave, Kira is haunted by Vader's spirit just like her brother and uncle. Determined to remember the hero Luke told her about, and dedicated to honor his redemption, Kira rejects the ghost and flees the cave, guided by spirits implied to be Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Kira leaves the island to go back to the Resistance, knowing there is no more time and they are not safe. Luke stays behind with R2-D2, afraid of what may happen if he faces Ben and is tempted by the darkness again. He is reached by Yoda, who encourages him to go to his family. It is implied the living Force itself burns down the Force-tree in a burst of lightning, and in a crucial moment Luke pulls the books out of the tree. Happily, Yoda tells his old student there is still hope and to build something new, not what came before. Reinvigorated, Luke fully regains his hope, and the ghost of Vader vanishes shortly after fading into the image of Anakin Skywalker. Luke uncovers his old green lightsaber again and lifts his damaged X-Wing from the cliff side to repair it with R2-D2's help. Kira arrives on the Falcon just as the Resistance is cornered by the First Order at Crait, located in the same system as Canto Bight in this story. Using herself as bait for Caedus and his master, she is taken onto the Eclipse-class destroyer that is Snoke's flagship. Leia and the Resistance Simply put, the Resistance plot is trimmed down considerably, with the main focus being Leia holding everyone together. The very first scene we get of the Resistance is a funeral for Han Solo. Poe Dameron has his arc of learning patience, as he at first wants to stand and fight instead of flee to Republic space. His sentiment is supported by Amilyn Holdo, a councilor of the Republic Senate and the sole survivor of the capital, but she follows Leia's leadership. Leia and Admiral Ackbar lead two battles against the First Order as they travel back to friendly territory. In the first, Leia uses the Force-ability of battle meditation to keep their forces organized against a numerically superior foe. In the second, halfway through the movie, the Resistance capital ship the Raddus is boarded and damaged by the First Order and Caedus. Here, Leia takes up her lightsaber and helps her crew repel the boarding in a display similar to that of Darth Vader's rampage in Rogue One, only she moves with grace and leads her men to capture any they can rather than simply kill them all. Leia then has a psychic talk with her son. Caedus tells her to surrender, offering to vouch for her life. Leia expresses disappointment in her son, but tells him it is not too late and that she forgives him. Unable to hunt down and kill her, Caedus leaves with his task force. Leia is nearly killed when Snoke orders a volley on the Raddus directly, and thus goes into a coma after using the Force to protect Poe from an explosion. Poe, faced with the reality of their situation, has a desperate and heartfelt talk with Holdo and Ackbar. Ackbar tells him that in the end, the Rebel Alliance was just "the spark of hope that burned the Empire down. If the galaxy is to be free, the old soldier tells him, all the Resistance has to do for now is live to fight another day. They arrive at Crait, a larger planet orbited by the moon Canto Bight. But the First Order traps them, with the Supreme Leader himself having tracked them himself. No one can tell how it was done, but there is little time as the Resistance is cornered. But the ensuing slaughter is slowed down when Kira Solo arrives, requiring the Supreme Leader's attention. Finn's destiny In the escape from the base on D'Qar, Finn wakes up and mans a heavy gun. After the escape, Leia and the Resistance leadership plan a rendezvous on the planet Canto Bight with their allies in the Smugglers' Alliance. A team is assembled, with Finn joining it along with Maz Kanata and Rose Tico. Rose is a more professional soldier here, and somewhat wary of Finn as a former stormtrooper, especially after her sister dies helping the Resistance get away. Maz acts as a balance between the two, and is tasked with Leia to help Finn adjust to his growing Force-powers. On Canto Bight, there is no distracting class-war subplot or rescuing of animals. Finn and co. are waylaid by DJ, who is an outright antagonist. DJ tries to apprehend Rose and Finn, intending to betray the Smugglers' Alliance and profit from their conquest of the galaxy. Finn is confronted with the hacker's moral quandaries on war, and tempted to run away by DJ and "live free" but remembering his friendship with Poe and affection for Kira he refuses. Maz helps them escape and they go on a chase on Canto Bight, evading DJ's minions, but a First Order shuttle arrives led by Captain Phasma. Again, Finn is faced with fighting his former brother and sister stormtroopers, and uses the Force to disarm them all. But despite the danger, he decides not to kill any of them, remembering the pain he felt when his one teammate died on Jakku. Phasma takes him prisoner and he is brought onto Snoke's flagship as it arrives in the system to crush the Resistance. Rose and Maz follow onto the ship in secret, intending to sabotage the ship from the inside. Finn is threatened with execution for his "betrayal" of his comrades, but before his sentence can be carried out a surprise battle causes havoc in the ship. Wow, that was a lot. Okay guys, I think that takes up enough space for now, I will be posting the final act of the film in the comments. Secrets of the Supreme Leader will be revealed, Luke Skywalker returns to action, the Solo twins face their destiny. And the dead will speak.

It was a decent horror film. Nothing really unexpected. The "Carrie" moment didn't work, at least for me. Good characters, fair dialogue.

First up was Ganesha, after the Hindu god called the Remover of Obstacles. He's the one with the elephant head. That one stuck with me, but I gained another that I didn't like so much. The Iceman. One day, we had what the Aussies called a bit of a brass-up. Just our ship alone, but we caught an NVA battalion crossing a river, and wonder of wonders, we got permission to fire before they finished. The gunner had a round explode in the chamber, jamming his 60, and the fool had left his barrel bag, with spares, back in the revetment. So while he was frantically rummaging under my seat for my barrel bag, it was over to me, young and crazy, standing on the skid, singing something by the Stones at the of my lungs with the mike keyed so the others could listen in, and Lord, Lord, I rode that 60. 3000 rounds, an empty ammo box, and a smoking barrel that I had burned out because I didn't want to take the time to change. We got ordered out right after I went dry, so the artillery could open up, and of course, the arty took credit for every body recovered, but we could count how many bodies were floating in the river when we pulled out. The next day in the orderly room an officer with a literary bent announced my entrance with "Behold, the Iceman cometh. For those of you unfamiliar with Eugene O'Neil, the Iceman was Death. I hated that name, but I couldn't shake it. And, to tell you the truth, by that time maybe it fit. I have, or used to have, a photo of a young man sitting on a log eating C-rations with a pair of chopsticks. There are three dead NVA laid out in a line just beside him. He didn't kill them. He didn't choose to sit there because of the bodies. It was just the most convenient place to sit. The bodies don't bother him. He doesn't care. They're just part of the landscape. The young man is glancing at the camera, and you know in one look that you aren't going to take this guy home to meet your parents. Back in the world, you wouldn't want him in your neighborhood, because he is cold, cold, cold. I strangled that SOB, drove a stake through his heart, and buried him face down under a crossroad outside Saigon before coming home, because I knew that guy wasn't made to survive in a civilian environment. I think he's gone. All of him. I hope so. I much prefer being remembered as Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles.
